Teachers are exhausted. Teachers are leaving the profession. Teacher vacancies are growing. Students are behind academically and socially.
These challenges are even more pronounced for students who are underserved or have historically struggled in math.
The number of students struggling with math has grown significantly in recent decades. COVID set back many students academically and socially, but especially those in Math. Districts are struggling to find Math teachers, and positions are being filled by teachers that aren’t certified in specific content.
Finally, there’s a lack of data tracking and analysis in education outside of the typical standard assessments. There’s no infrastructure in place that puts student work at the center of instruction, no data-driven resource that helps teachers understand how their class stands and what to do next, and nothing that captures this level of data to actually make a dent in student progress.
We are tackling the most challenging puzzle in education.
We built EdLight to help teachers with differentiated instruction in the classroom in order to help their students meet their goals.
“Equity in the classroom means ensuring every student, regardless of their background or ability, gets the support they need. EdLight has been a game-changer in math, helping teachers better understand student thinking and provide targeted support — all while easing the burden of data collection and reporting.”
Alicia Laubsted
Teacher, Valley View School District
“The main benefit is the immediate feedback…In the past I didn't use cool-downs often because I never had the time to grade. EdLight allows me to get feedback and use it every day while saving me lots of time.”
Stephanie Layson
Principal, Catalyst Public Schools
“When we sit down together and dig in as a school, how are 8th graders overall doing in this certain standard, that’s a couple clicks of a button, all in one place. We don’t even need to be sitting next to each other to look at that data.”
Christy Vehe
Director of Math and Science 6-12, Valley View School District
“So many win-win opportunities. Teachers get professional learning, teachers have students doing cool-downs, and teachers are able to collaborate around student misconceptions.”
